Over the weekend, rumors swirled about singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle’s arrest in Indianapolis on Thursday night, followed by a fewangrytweets by Earle himself, reports containing alleged details, and confirmation of the arrest via the Marion County Sheriff’s Department website. So what went down? Allegedly, Earle’s frustration with the venue’s sound quality and audience boiled over when someone threw a shirt on his guitar toward the end of his headlining set. MOKB reports that Earle later trashed his dressing room to the tune of $200 and was told by venue staff that he would be docked pay over the damage. A physical fight ensued, according to accounts yet to be confirmed by Earle or police, before he was removed from the venue, arrested, charged with assault, battery, resisting arrest, and other offenses, and later released on bail.
Now that he is “[f]ree again,” Earle’s U.S. tour with Jessica Lea Mayfield rolls on. (Here’s hoping all the drama is resolved before their Hardly Strictly Bluegrass sets I’ll be catching in about two weeks.)
Hurley might be one of my least favorite Weezer albums, but Rivers Cuomo and the boys sure have a knack for holding our attention during the promo blitz: First, they teamed up with Ryan Adams for a new song, and now a tour featuring sets dedicated to Weezer’s best two albums, their self-titled debut (“Blue Album”) and Pinkerton, has been confirmed by the band’s label. Here’s the official statement from Epitaph:
This winter (November/December), Weezer will launch a multi-city U.S. tour, dubbed by fans as the “Blinkerton Tour.” The band will play two shows in each market-on the first night Weezer will play the Blue Album in its entirety, and the second night they will play Pinkerton in its entirety.
New Orleans … a courtesan whose hold is strong upon the mature, to whose charm the young must respond. And all who leave her, seeking the virgin’s unbrown, ungold hair and her blanched and icy breast where no lover has died, return to her when she smiles across her languid fan… .
The Celtics continue their off-season makeover, with moves that seem designed not just to win a championship, but to provide as many storylines as possible on the way to the championship. Right now, there are already many matchups where one or both parties has a score to settle:
Shaq vs. Dwyane Wade
Shaq vs. Chris Bosh
Shaq vs. Kobe
Shaq vs. Los Angeles
Paul Pierce vs. Los Angeles
Paul Pierce vs. LeBron
LeBron vs. Boston (beat him in two of the last three playoffs)
Jermaine O’Neal vs. Ron Artest
Nate Robinson vs. Dwight Howard
Eddie House vs. Boston
But the potential for a Delonte-LeBron showdown in the Eastern Conference Finals might be the best of all. And if the Celtics and Heat meet in the conference semi-finals, they might even play on Mother’s Day.
